With over 50 years experience in stainless steel architectural rigging we are able to partner with you to provide a high quality yet cost effective solution for your next tensile mesh project.

Detailed below are a number of design parameters that will need to be considered prior to selecting the correct Flexi-Mesh product:

1. TENSILE STRENGTH

The project application and ultimate design will determine the tensile strength of the Flexi-Mesh panels you require.

This will be determined by various factors including installation type, size of the structure, static loads calculated, local building codes and laws etc. These factors need to be considered carefully in the design process.

As a guide Flexi-Mesh panels can be made from 7x7, 7x19 or 1x19 stainless steel wire rope with the minimum tensile strengths of each size and construction noted in Table 1 for reference.

Our standard panels are made from 7x7 construction wire rope as this is the most cost-effective solution for most applications.

However, we are able to manufacture from 7x19 construction wire rope and 1x19 wire strand to meet specific project criteria.

As every Flexi-Mesh panel is made to order we are able to tailor the panels to meet your project tensile requirements.

2. MESH APERTURE

Mesh aperture, or net geometry, refers to the distance between the middle of one ferrule to the next ferrule along the cable and is stated as:

Mesh Aperture = Mesh Width (MW) x Mesh Height (MH)

The mesh aperture required for a particulare project will be determined by numerous factors that include:

 * Transparency  * Light Transission  * Airflow  * Installation Type  * Relevant Building Codes and Laws

3. GEOMETRIC ORIENTATION

An aesthetic choice, Flexi-Mesh panels can be manufactured in either the Vertical (V) or Horizontal (H) geometric orientation:

4. BORDER DESIGN

Flexi-Mesh offers the choice of thirty (30) different border design options to assist with the fixing of the panels to structural supports in a cost-effective manner.

Our design professionals are able to assist with the selection of the most appropriate border design to minimise installation costs.

5. CABLE AND SUPPORT ELEMENTS

Flexi-Mesh  will always create tension forces that have a direct impact on the supporting structure it is being attached too.

The ability of this material type to be tensioned in all three dimensions results in unique structures that minimise material use and have a very high economic efficiency.

The design, placement, and adjustment of tensioning elements will control the ultimate shape and deflection of the material.

The resultant forces on the supporting structure need careful planning from a multidisciplinary approach. Proper distribution of these forces requires attachment into solid anchoring points such as a building or anchoring base.

As part of the Structural Dynamics group, who have specialised in stainless steel structural cables and rods for over 50 years, Flexi-Mesh is in a unique position to assist architects and landscape architects with the choice of materials required when designing their next architectural cable mesh project. Our range of stainless steel cable and support elements is capable of meeting any project criteria.
